Sara Phillips

Senior Registered Manager
Sara Phillips has been the Registered Manager of Old Hastings House since the acquisition of the home in March 2025.

Sara has over 12 years of experience in healthcare management, having held senior roles including Deputy Manager and Home Manager. She is a Registered Nurse with more than 20 years of clinical experience, bringing a strong clinical foundation to her leadership practice.

Sara is deeply committed to delivering high quality care for older people, with a particular focus on dementia care. She is a trained dementia awareness facilitator and has successfully developed, implemented and delivered dementia care strategies and training programmes within previous organisations. Sara is known for her approachable and supportive leadership style and is regarded by staff, residents, and families as open, accessible, and easy to talk to.

Emma Freeman

Registered Manager
Emma has worked within the health and social care sector since 2007, beginning her career as a Domestic Assistant. She has since progressed through a range of senior roles, including Care Assistant, Deputy Manager, and Home Manager, gaining extensive leadership and operational experience.

Emma holds a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Health and Social Care. She is committed to delivering high quality, person centred care and has a strong professional interest in supporting individuals living with dementia.

Since joining Old Hastings House, Emma has supported Sara in the effective day to day management of the service and provides leadership, guidance, and support to the staff team.

Michaela Wood

Deputy Manager
Michaela has been a dedicated member of the team at Old Hastings House since 2009, where she began her journey as a kitchen assistant and steadily progressed through a range of roles including Care Team Leader, Care Co-ordinator and now Deputy Manager.

This progression has given Michaela a well-rounded understanding of the care environment and the diverse needs of the residents she supports.

Over the years, Michaela has developed strong knowledge and insight into residents' individual needs, ensuring they receive compassionate, person-centred care. She takes pride in building positive and professional relationships, not only with residents and their families but also with external services within the local community, helping to ensure a consistent and high standard of support. Michaela works closely with all teams at Old Hastings House to ensure staff are supported and equipped to perform their roles to the best of their abilities.

Michaela holds qualifications in Adult Health and Social Care, as well as an ILM in leadership and Management, which have supported her professional growth and strengthened her ability to lead and support others effectively.

A Friendly Face, Every Day

We work hard to maintain continuity, so you’ll see familiar faces each day and build trusting relationships over time. From carers and nurses to our chefs, activities co-ordinators, housekeeping and administrative staff, everyone plays a part in making our home a supportive and enjoyable place to be.

As a resident, you’ll also have a named key worker – someone who will take the time to get to know you and your preferences, and who will work closely with you to make sure your needs are met with respect and dignity.
