🌼June 2026 Newsletter 🌼

9th July 2026

☀️ Life at the Home

June brought plenty of sunshine and some exceptionally warm weather, giving residents the opportunity to make the most of the longer days. The hot temperatures meant there were plenty of refreshing drinks, ice creams and ice lollies on hand to help everyone keep cool and comfortable.

Residents enjoyed spending time in the garden, relaxing outdoors and socialising with one another in the fresh air. The home remained bright and welcoming throughout the month, with staff ensuring everyone was supported to enjoy the summer safely while continuing to create a friendly and positive atmosphere.

🎨 Activities & Wellbeing

June was another busy month, with residents enjoying a varied programme of activities designed to promote wellbeing, social interaction and fun.

Highlights included celebrating Father's Day with themed arts and crafts, watching the King's Birthday celebrations and Trooping the Colour, taking part in World Ocean Day creative sessions, celebrating Pride Month with themed activities, and recognising Carers Week, during which we celebrated the dedication and hard work of our wonderful care team. Residents also enjoyed live musical entertainment from our talented guitarists and pianists, sing-alongs, gentle exercise and movement sessions, gardening club, flower arranging, minibus drives, and regular games including bingo, quizzes and carpet bowls.

Our popular Fizzy Friday trolley, cheese and wine afternoon, fruit platters, and Daily Sparkle sessions continued to be well received, providing plenty of opportunities for residents to socialise, reminisce and enjoy meaningful time together.

❤️ Health & Care Updates

The health, comfort and wellbeing of our residents continue to be our highest priority. Throughout June, our care team remained dedicated to providing compassionate, individualised support, ensuring residents' changing needs were met whilst promoting independence wherever possible.

Residents also benefited from visits from our hairdresser on 14th and 24th June, helping everyone look and feel their best. Visits from the chiropodist on 25th and 29th June also supported residents in maintaining good foot health and mobility. On 30th June, a number of residents also received their COVID-19 vaccination, helping to protect their health and wellbeing.

We continue to work closely with healthcare professionals and families to ensure every resident receives the highest standard of care.

🔧 Maintenance within the Home

We have continued to invest in improving both the safety and comfort of our home throughout June.

Fire door upgrades are now underway on the Blue Floor as part of our ongoing programme of essential safety improvements, with every effort being made to minimise disruption to residents and visitors.

To help everyone stay comfortable during the exceptionally warm weather, new fans have been installed in both lounges, providing a cooler and more pleasant environment for residents to enjoy.

We are also delighted to have added a new gazebo to the garden, creating a shaded outdoor space where residents can relax, socialise and make the most of the sunshine. In addition, several residents' rooms have been redecorated, helping to maintain the fresh, homely and welcoming surroundings that we strive to provide.

👥 Staffing & Community

June has been a positive month for our team, and we are delighted to have welcomed several new members of staff to Old Hastings House.

We have welcomed two new Care Assistants, a new Kitchen Assistant and a new Activities Assistant, all of whom have settled in well and are already making a valuable contribution to the home. Their enthusiasm and dedication help to strengthen our team, ensuring we continue to provide high-quality care, engaging activities and excellent support for our residents each day.

📋 Quality Assurance

We value the feedback we receive from our residents, families, visitors, healthcare professionals and staff. Below is a summary of our latest quality assurance survey results.

🌻 Looking Ahead

As we look ahead to July, we are excited to continue our busy programme of activities and events.

Residents can look forward to celebrating Wimbledon with themed activities, taking part in our fun Pirates Day, enjoying live music and sing-along sessions, as well as regular minibus outings, gardening, chair yoga and creative arts and crafts.

Alongside our popular favourites, including the Fizzy Friday trolley, quizzes and Daily Sparkle sessions, we hope to make the most of the summer weather with opportunities to spend time outdoors whenever possible.

We look forward to another month filled with laughter, companionship and meaningful experiences for all our residents.

💙 Thank You

Thank you to all our residents, families, friends and dedicated staff for your continued support and kindness. Your encouragement and involvement mean so much to us and help make Old Hastings House a warm, welcoming and happy place to live and work.
